Keynote Speaker – Michael Gyura of PokeYoka Designs and Princeton Seminary Student

Michael started Poka Yoke Design with Khanh Lam in August 2009. Khanh and Michael met while working together on a web project for the Institute of Youth Ministry at Princeton Theological Seminary. Their skills complemented each other in a rare and extraordinary way, and they decided to form a partnership. Since then they have been helping businesses, churches, and individuals communicate their message online.

Michael has been building websites since 1998 and is always looking for ways to help people communicate more effectively and efficiently. As a former youth director and a current student at Princeton Seminary, Michael is familiar with the culture and practices of churches and non-profits, and has a passion for helping them use technology to reach their full potential.

He is the father of two amazing boys and husband to a woman way out of his league, Michael is living a life he truly doesn’t deserve.

Teenage Translation: Learning to Communicate with the Youth of Today –  Andrew Hostetter – Associate Director of youth ministries – Wayne Presbyterian Church

Have you ever tried talking with a teenager and felt like you were having a cross cultural experience?  Well you are in good company.  If you are a parent of a youth, you will see that the youth you know and love are a lot different from the kids you knew them as several years ago.  During this workshop, we will be working to understand the youth mindset a little better, and to develop and practice methods of communicating with youth.  Hopefully by the end of our experience you will feel more comfortable with using your Teenage-ese.

This workshop is sponsored by the Presbytery of Philadelphia  Youth Worker Academy.

Communicating with Each Other–Are We Really Reaching Everyone?  Lorri Camilleri, Director of Communications for Doylestown Presbyterian.

Join us for a lively discussion on how we, as a church, communicate with each other.  Are we reaching our targeted audience?  How do we connect with our senior adults?  What about our youth?  Are social networks the answer?  Do we only communicate electronically?  Have hard copies gone completely away?   We will begin our session with an overview of these topics and break into small groups to discuss what works and doesn’t work for your church.  Afterwards, we’ll return and share our findings.
