Public Policy Advocacy

Write a letter!  Make a phone call!  Take a trip to see your legislator!  Sometimes, there remain structural issues, which make it difficult for people to escape poverty.  At least twice each year, Presbyterians from the Presbytery of Philadelphia have the opportunity to take an advocacy trip to Washington, DC, under the leadership of the Hunger Action Enabler.  At other times, there are lots of ways to continue to follow up on the issues at home.  Issues include:  the federal budget, federal nutrition programs, the minimum wage, and health care coverage, as well as international trade policy, poverty-focused foreign aid, and debt relief, because these are issues that have the power to affect what means people have to be able to eat.
