A Message from PW Moderator, Janet Brown

Dear Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Philadelphia,

PW Web

Our days seem long when we are confined and activities curtailed. We struggle with the weather, with health issues and family crisis. Yet, most of us are in community with others we trust and appreciate as we read these words. This is not so for everyone.

Our theme this year is “an abiding hope” and that is the greatest gift that Presbyterian Women can extend. Our focus on mission helps others reach safety. Many women are still in harm’s way. Thank you for continuing to share your leadership and resources to provide this safety net through PW.

Each Gathering has a new project or focus. The organization, ChangePurse, will benefit from our Spring Gathering. Congregations have been receptive to providing a collection spot for new or gently used purses. Now, we need your help to generate purse donations from your Women to fill the collection boxes. All types of purses are welcome for donation as long as they are new or very gently used. Please post the attached flyer: PW AprilFashionShowIf you need more information, please come to our CT meeting on February 25 at the Presbytery Office at 10:30 a.m. or contact me.

The Coordinating Team will price all donations on March 25 for the April 26 PW Spring Gathering the Church on the Mall. More information will follow about the Gathering at the end of February from your Regional Moderator.

Day of Reflection: On April 2, at 10 a.m., Lee Porter, visual artist for the 2012-13 Horizons Bible Study, will be present at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr. She will show some of her quilts and speak about their relationship to the current Bible Study. Please click here for a sample of her works: BMPCArtistShow. On-site parking is available. Again, contact me for more information.

Three days in one short week of new snowfall has to be some of record for the Philadelphia area. Stay safe. Reach In to God. Reach Out to your neighbor.

Remember, our hope is in the Lord!
