Recipients for the 2nd Wave of the 2021 Covenant Fund Grant!

The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill Senior Outreach Program: Making senior activities more affordable and accessible to benefit older adults.  By lowering costs, more community members will be able to attend these vital programs so there is truly something for everyone regardless of their income.

First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia Campus Ministry: The Christian Association at the University of Pennsylvania is a place for students to grow spiritually, find community and meaningful relationships, along with support systems during this season of their lives. Their hope is other campus ministries benefit from this project along with the students they serve.

First Presbyterian Church in Norristown Providing Overnight Shelter to the Unhoused:  Providing additional room for shelter and beds to the unhoused when the Hospitality Center of Norristown runs out of space by providing designated people onsite every Code Blue night to let in the Hospitality Center staff and receive clients.

Gladwyne Presbyterian Church A Time for Peace: Heeding God’s Call, supported by and in collaboration with Gladwyne Presbyterian Church, will build a statewide education and advocacy of faith communities and faith activists across Pennsylvania that will change local and statewide cultural norms, public opinion, and public policy to radically reduce the number of lives lost to gun violence in Pennsylvania.

Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church Family Initiative: Fostering social connectedness within the community by providing children’s program through childcare and expanding its ministry and worship life.

Old Pine Presbyterian Church Intergenerational Leadership: Engaging folks from the Old Pine community of various ages by implementing a faith formation curriculum that encourages wonder and storytelling to benefit the 20-30 children currently in their faith community, and to recruit adults to participate in its leadership.

Tree of Life Church Disability Ministry / Our Community Cup: Forming a worship task force to design and implement a hybrid worship service to create and support a community of faith where people of all abilities and disabilities, providing a safe, joyful, and accepting environment for people to use their talents in service of God and the community.

Recipients for the 1st Wave of the 2021 Covenant Fund Grant!

We give thanks for the witness of Broad Street Ministry, Christ’s Community Presbyterian Church, Deep Run Presbyterian Church, Iglesia Central Presbiteriana, and The Welcome Church. Read more about their ministries below!

Broad Street Ministry Online Outreach: They are a church where our congregants travel from an ever- expanding geographical area to attend their in-person worship services, some traveling as far as Delaware, Central New Jersey, and New York. With this new ministry initiative, they hope to create a church home for people in Philadelphia and across the country who do not feel at home elsewhere.

Christ’s Community, Liberian Outreach and Co-ops: The Liberia Outreach Mission continues to organize social and economic self-help initiatives in the rural community of Zahn, Liberia. Through this initiative, rural farmer cooperatives have already been organized in the Zahn chiefdom where citizens are growing and marketing local agricultural produce in their communities and generating income.

Deep Run Virtual Log College: The pandemic revealed that the Church, and the world, are in the midst of a Virtual Reformation. Virtual ministry will continue to be part of the Church’s life, and Deep Run is determined to meet this contextual challenge with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love by  providing leadership and technology skills building.

Iglesia Central Presbiteriana Youth Ministry: Central has been serving the Latinx population in Norristown since 2005, with a heart for engaging the youth and young adults in their Hispanic communities. They continue to seek new ways of strengthening their youth ministry. Their desire is to expand their youth ministry, including a strategy to serve the different groups, from pre-teens to young adults through Bible Study, music, sports and leadership training.

The Welcome Church Sanctuary Village: Sanctuary Village was founded in order to build Philadelphia’s first community of Tiny Houses and help end homelessness.  Sanctuary Village has been selected to build Tiny Houses on city-owned property in NE Philadelphia. With this transitional housing, people will be able to work on what they need to, in order to move from homelessness to permanent housing.
