Beacon is a welcoming and innovative community church. Our worship and work is rooted in relationships inside and outside of our membership. We are looking for a collaborative part- time pastor who will guide us. One very important way we are guided is in our creative worship service. Our membership is quite diverse, often drawing people who are not traditional churchgoers, and people who have come to church with particular needs. Beacon has been in a period of several pastoral transitions since the beginning of 2021. We seek to hire a leader who supports us as we discern the next phase of our community involvement, help us grow our congregation, and more deeply integrate our community into the local neighborhood.

Beacon Church, in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, seeks a part-time pastor to begin on or near May 3, 2026. This part-time position is 20-25 hours a month, focusing on worship leadership, preaching, moderating our Session and pastoral care. Beacon currently worships on the first Sunday of the month with a community dinner integrated into worship, along with a monthly prayer circle led by one of our elders. Session approved a shift to this model beginning in 2025 and worship services were held weekly in Advent, continuing monthly in 2026. Session will review and reassess our worship format in late 2026.
