Chester Eastside, Inc: Transforming Childrens’ Odds into Opportunities in the City of Chester
Chester Eastside, Inc. works to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for young people in the city of Chester so they can meet their most basic needs, work towards a more just society, and achieve their full potential as citizens. Located in a small city adjacent to Philadelphia, Chester is often known for its pervasive poverty, educational dysfunction, and high crime rates. “Chester is a place where it is assumed children will go from school to prison,” remarked Executive Director Zuline Williams. “At Chester Eastside we say children will go from school to success.”
