Rearing Successful Sons: Empowering Youth for a Pathway of Possibility
Rearing Successful Sons empowers Philadelphia’s African-American youth (ages 9-17) in the Point Breeze neighborhood to take charge of their lives through intentional mentoring and education. Rearing Successful Sons models successful behaviors and engages a community of learners in an effort to remove the barriers along the pathways for career, personal and spiritual growth. Activities include interaction with law enforcement and judges, health and nutrition professionals, curriculum of math, communication, and creative writing, field trips to historic sites related to African-American history, and exposure to various community leaders.
