Bread for the World plea to President Obama and Congress

 A message from Rev. David Beckmann, President, Bread for the World:
 

Over the next three months, Congress must resolve some very important issues. The sequester, the debt limit, and the farm bill will soon take center stage. Already, special interests are clamoring for special treatment.

The Circle of Protection pastoral letter is asking for a clear moral debate and for decisions that protect programs for people living with hunger or in poverty.

Our goal is to have at least 5,000 signatures before we release the letter next week. I encourage you to reread the full text of the letter and invite clergy colleagues to add their names as well.

Let’s be sure that Congress and the president know that we are praying for them and for an end to political brinksmanship.
