As the Church of Jesus Christ, we continue to lean into our call in the midst of crises
Our local, domestic, and international communities continue to experience rapid trauma related to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, tropical storms, and displacement from their homes and homelands. All of this is in addition to the ongoing struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic.  As the Church of Jesus Christ, we continue to lean into our call in the midst of crises- hopeful embodiments of God’s love, justice, welcome, and compassion.  What is below are recent responses of the connectional church as our congregations partner with denominational and ecumenical entities. We invite you to click the links below and consider how the Spirit is inviting you to participate in Christ’s work through your witness.
  • Hurricane and Tropical Storm Ida: This category 4 hurricane once again has wreaked havoc on the beautiful people and land along the Gulf Coast. Learn more through the work of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance: https://pda.pcusa.org/situation/hurricane-ida/

We are also aware of the significant impact this storm had on our own region and members of our immediate communities. Many of our churches are already working to extend relief efforts and coordinate work crews to support their neighbors most impacted and in need.

  • Earthquake in Haiti: Learn how you can support the relief efforts in Haiti after the recent earthquake that has claimed more than 1,200 lives and left a country devastated and in great need of support from the international community. Our hearts are pulled in so many directions these days, longing to respond with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love wherever and however we can. We are grateful for the larger ecumenical body of Christ able to do far more together than any one person or congregation can do alone. We invite all our people to be prayerful and faithful, grateful for God’s promise to be with us in the midst of all things.
If you are aware of other needs in the area, resources to share, or your congregation/ministry community is longing to expand partnerships related to the above, please contact our Associate Presbyter, Rev. Greg Klimovitz at [email protected].
