TRUST IN GOD

Daily Reading for Wednesday, April 5, 2017

History tells the story of those who place their trust in the Lord. God is constantly overhauling the tragedies of the past as the pendulum of time swings.

The example for us is the 117 years of the history of Thomas M. Thomas Memorial Presbyterian Church, founded by a child of God who understood the wholeness of God’s word, and was called to nurture and grow God’s Spirit in the neglected African-American Community in Chester. The downtrodden, abused, and used were gathered by a vision of God’s caring love and mercy. The congregation prayed and worked to point the way; gathering those in the community who were willing to serve the living God.

The faithful servants of the church were joined and supported by those outside of their community who saw God in everyone and all being equal. They have led the way in developing and improving the quality of life in the City of Chester. This thread has been a part of the work of this congregation for all of its life and stands as a continuing example of what God’s grace does as prayers are being answered.
Our best word is to pray and seek the Lord. Cry out and God will answer, guide, energize and strengthen those who come. What better foundation for giving thanksgiving than God’s marvelous acts. Trust and give thanks for God is good!

May the light of Your grace continue to shine. Amen.
