Gathering in the Upper Room

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away. When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying, Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers. Acts 1:12-14

Approximately five thousand Presbyterian youth gather every three years for a week of immersion in the faith community and gospel. This church of youth and adults together experience a sense of what it means to be a disciples and followers of Jesus. They come for all parts of the United States as well as 50 Youth from Triennium Global Partners Program.

In 2016, the Presbytery of Philadelphia sent 37 youth and adult leaders from 6 congregations. Teenagers, together with their adult leaders, considered their calling to be agents of the gospel—agents of compassion, healing, and service.

May we continue to empower our young people in the church whose leadership and witness matter as much now as in the future.
Gracious God, thank you for the way you care for our youth and young adults! Amen.
