Churches and presbyteries are doing exciting work and making a difference in the lives of many in their communities. The needs in our communities are great right now, and in many cases different and more severe than they were pre-COVID. Several of you have expressed a need for further financial support for your initiatives and have asked us how to secure funding from the foundations and private funders in our region.
The Synod is excited to provide the following workshops which will arm you with the tools and knowledge to approach funders and apply for the financial support that will push your difference-making initiatives to the next level.

Grant-seeking: Creating Relationships with Funders
This workshop will give you the research tools to pinpoint potential foundations and funding resources within your community and our region. You will also leave the workshop with an understanding of how to establish contact with a potential funder and what to say in the first, second, and third discussions, and how to keep the relationship alive for funding cycles to come. Writing the Grant: How to Start and What to Share
Good news, this is not as painful as writing a thesis, a will, or doing your taxes! However, it is as painless as following a writing formula, finding and sharing solid data, and using some basic the persuasive writing skills. This workshop will give you the framework and confidence to apply for a grant outside of our denomination, and will teach you how to present your case, and your church or other entity, in the most appealing and critical light.
