Introducing Rev. Ruth Faith Santana-Grace

RSG and Family“…Now proceed to cross the Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them….I hereby command you; Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:2b,9)

 Words from Ruth…

The journey that brings me before you is a reaffirmation of how the Holy Spirit guides and leads us through the unexpected into new possibilities. In my discernment with the EPNC I was reminded of how God calls us forth into new lands. The Biblical image that came to me was that of the children of Israel standing at the edge of the Jordan River—called to make a choice—to step into the water and cross to the land of God’s promise or simply stare and imagine what could be from a distance. I am excited about what I have learned about Philadelphia Presbytery—you have RSG 3already begun your journey toward a new land of resurrection possibilities. You have demonstrated an openness to dream dreams —as you consider new ways of being the corporate people of Jesus Christ at this time and place. In you, I recognize a willingness to stand on a rich heritage while embracing the “yet unknown future” God has prepared for you. Your strength and courage has touched me deeply. It would be an honor to step into the river with you and make the crossing and pilgrimage to a new place of promise. It is in this spirit that I come before you – with great humility, great trepidation and a profound sense of resurrection hope. Trusting always that “the Lord our God is with us wherever we go.”

From the Reverend Dr. Neal D. Presa, Moderator, 220th General Assembly PC(USA): “She is a visionary, a collaborator, seeking to harness the gifts of ruling and teaching elders, and supporting the congregational ministries to be and become missional.  She is committed to the spiritual formation of disciples of Christ, is deeply ecumenical, and is a true pastor at heart.”
