Rev. Brenton Thompson brings a breadth and depth of experience to the Presbytery which includes not only congregational ministry, but service to the larger denomination as a Young Adult Volunteer (Northern Ireland and Ukraine), member of the Presbyterian Mission Agency board, and corresponding member to Mission Responsibility Through Investment. Brenton is no stranger to the presbytery, as he most recently ended nearly 11 years as pastor of Crossroad Presbyterian Church in Limerick.
With a deep love for congregational ministry, Brenton brings to this position a fundamental understanding of the benefits of being a connectional church. Along with his congregational and denominational service, here in the Presbytery of Philadelphia Brenton has served on the Commission on Preparation for Ministry and Membership and the Committee on Ministry. Through these avenues he has seen and experienced the benefit of collegiality, sharing resources, and forming intentional connections between churches and ministries. He understands the challenges and possibilities before our congregations.
Brenton is a graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He currently resides with his wife, the Rev. Sudie Niesen Thompson and their two daughters in Phoenixville.
Brenton began his service with the Presbytery September 2022.
