Rev. Bernice Warren and the NBPC met in Ferguson MO

A Great Ends Grant Recipient to Begin a Process of Peace

Ferguson2With assistance from the Presbytery’s Great Ends Grants, Rev. Bernice Warren (Chester Eastside Ministries) and Kearni Warren (TMThomas ) travelled to Ferguson, Missouri by an invitation from the National Black Presbyterian Caucus.

While in Ferguson, they met with religious leaders and residents to begin the process of peace among the community members divided as a result of the riots, some having lost their businesses.

Joining the choirs of prayer for this town, Rev. Warren and Ms. Warren spent their time searching out ways to begin healing and rebuilding.  Even while we grieve this difficult and sensitive situation, we give thanks that as a Presbytery, our voice of peace and healing was present.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God.” Micah 6:8

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
