Update on Church Sales Tax Exemption Certificate

Due to delays as a result of COVID-19, the Department is extending your sales tax exemption status until DECEMBER 31, 2020. The extension is only intended to assist your institution to continue daily operations without interruption while the Department is processing your renewal.

You may use this correspondence with a copy of your expired certificate as your authority to make tax-free purchases with the use of an Exemption Certificate (REV-1220).

This extension shall not constitute an approval of the organization’s status as an “institution of purely public charity.”
The Department will issue all the exemption certificates to the Parent Church to distribute.
